While I like the color choices for the back of the nano, the white front does turns me off. In my opinion, it makes the new nano look feminine at best, and childish at worst.  I imagine that the nano and the new i Pod touch are being marketed more to a kid/teen crowd. That being said, I don’t think that would stop anyone from buying one, not even me. The only color I do like is the slate color nano that is dark gray/slate on the back and black on the front. The slate nano is the one I decided to purchase. Besides the color design, the most obvious change from the 6th to the 7th.
I have a 6 month old computer with Windows 7 on it. Anyhow, I always use i Tunes and backup/load songs from it to my i Phone 4 and 2nd gen i Pod. About a week ago is when I last was able to connect my i Pod to itunes and load new songs. However now my computer no longer recognizes my i Pod. I thought it was i Tunes at fault but my computer still recognizes my i Phone no problem (with the same cord) and my computer also recognizes my gps watch with its own separate cord. I've tried restarting my computer, unplugging it, using both USB ports but to no avail. The ipod charges when plugged in to the computer but it just isn't being recognized (there are no removable storage devices showing in my computer either). I opened device manager and it shows 2x Generic USB Hub, 2x Intel 6 Series. Hos Controller, 2x USB Root Hub, 1x USB Mass Storage Device. When I go to properties > details > hardware ids of the USB Mass Storage Device it shows USB\ VID_0 BDA 7th generation, follow these steps. The Five Rs: Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall, Restore Remember these five basic suggestions if you have an issue with i Pod nano. Try these steps one at a time until the issue is resolved. If one of the following doesn't help, read on for solutions to specific issues. Reset i Pod nano. First, make sure i Pod nano is charged. Then press the Sleep/ Wake button and the Home button for six seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Retry with a different USB port if you cannot see i Pod nano in i Tunes. Restart your computer and make sure that you have the latest software updates installed. Download and reinstall i Tunes. Restore i Pod nano. Power Follow these steps if your i Pod a power-related issue. Will not turn on or screen remains dark Connect i Pod to power for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has enough charge to allow i Pod to turn on. If i Pod does not turn on after ten minutes, try resetting it while it is still connected to power. Reset the i Pod by holding down the Sleep/ Wake button and the Home button for at least six seconds or until you see the Apple logo appear. If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect i Pod to a computer and verify that it appears in i Tunes and can play music. If i Pod appears in i Tunes and can play music, no further troubleshooting is needed. If the screen remains dark and will not turn on, then your i Pod may need service. Battery life appears short Learn how to conserve battery life. Ensure that the latest software is installed.
Ask a question Report Dylan - Latest answer on Oct 7, 2012 04:05 PM Hello, I own an Apple 80 GB i Pod video and recently got 2 new labtops, so i got rid of my old desktop computer. one of them is a vista, one is an xp. i made sure all of the updates/driver updates were installed then downloaded and installed the latest version of i Tunes 8. when i tried to plug my ipod into my computer (i tried on both computers) it will pop up a ballon saying this usb device cannot be reconized and will not show up in windows or itunes and does not charge. in device manager it will come up as usb mass storage device and say that no drivers are installed for this device. this problem is not with my computer or the cord because i have borrowed a friends ipod and used my cord to plug into both computers which worked fine. i have tried forcing my ipod into diskmode but still pops up this usb device is not reconized. many sites ive read about this problem on just tell you to reset the ipod or restart the computer but that has not worked for me either. i have tried to complete the 5 rs from the apple site but i cannot restore my ipod without it being reconized by itunes first. just ask if you need more details about anything.
